I <3 Map Crafts

30 May

One of the first things you’d probably notice upon walking into my apartment is that I’m a pretty big fan of maps. More specifically, my significant other is obsessed with them and I’ve learned to love them too. I guess that’s why I tend to fall back on maps whenever I need paper materials or images for my craft projects. There are TONS of craft tutorials that involve maps out there on the internet but it can be kinda frustrating finding each one. So here’s a collection of my favorites, with a few of my own ideas thrown in as well.

DIY Matchbook Notebooks

DIY Matchbook Notebooks from Daisy Janie

I just came across this tutorial for making staple-free matchbook notepads via Daisy Janie. I realize the original post is about a year old but I just love this idea.

A) I try to always have a mini notebook in my purse so I can jot down notes to myself throughout the day — movies I want to see, books I want to read, groceries I need to pick up, etc.

B) I love that the stitching makes these pages easy to pull out without messing up the entire notebook. Perforation, hell yes!

I’m going to try this out as soon as I fix my sewing machine. Hopefully that means some day in the very near future… We’ll see.

Check out the tutorial for yourself here.

Love: Gleeful Peacock

23 May

This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Nikki of Gleeful Peacock at the Renegade Craft Fair. She had her adorable daughter by her side helping her sell jewelry and sign folks up for the shop’s newsletter. So sweet! Her earrings were simply gorgeous and beautifully displayed.

After The Fair

22 May

As predicted, the Renegade Craft Fair was AWESOME. This thing was enormous, taking up the entire area inside of the Palmer Events Center. The space was pretty much filled to bursting with amazing crafters, artisans and their appreciators. Over 200 sellers set up shop as well as a few craft stations allowing folks to make DIY bracelets, wallets, buttons, and more.

I did my best to visit every vendor in the few hours I was there but there’s no way I could have thoroughly investigated every single one of them in just one afternoon. I picked up business cards for the shops that really excited me… Needless to say, I walked out of there with an enormous stack of ’em. Here’s just SOME of the cards I gathered:

Upcycling Old Prescription Bottles

21 May

So I’ve collected a massive collection of these things over the years. I don’t want to just toss ’em in the trash or even the recycling bin, so what should I do with them?

Any ideas?

Renegade Craft Fair Austin

21 May

It’s that time again! The Renegade Craft Fair is in Austin this weekend and I am heading there in about an hour’s time.

I seriously cannot wait. I love me a good craft fair, yes I do! It’s so exciting to meet the people behind the craft, you know? There’s something extra special about buying a one-of-a-kind necklace (or art print or dress or journal or greeting card) and getting to share a few words with the talented person who made it.

If you’re in Austin this weekend, go to the Palmers Event Center and check it out for yourself!
